Focus Scripture:
Colossians 2:14–15 (NLT)
“He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the cross.”
There are moments in life when the past tries to speak louder than the present.
Moments when guilt, shame, regret, or old accusations attempt to define who we are and where we are going.
But Colossians 2:14–15 interrupts that narrative.
This passage doesn’t whisper hope; it declares victory.
Canceled
The Word tells us that Jesus canceled the record of charges against us.
Not postponed. Not negotiated. Canceled.
Every sin, every failure, every moment you wish you could undo was nailed to the cross. The enemy may try to remind you of where you’ve been, but heaven has already removed the evidence.
Romans 8:1 (NLT)
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
You are not living under accusation anymore. You are living under grace.
Disarmed
The passage goes further, it tells us that Jesus disarmed the rulers and authorities.
That means the enemy no longer has the power he once had.
Satan may still attempt to intimidate, but he no longer has legal authority over a redeemed life.
Luke 10:19 (NLT)
“I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.”
What once threatened you no longer controls you.
Victorious
Jesus didn’t just win quietly.
The Word says He shamed them publicly by His victory.
The cross looked like defeat, but it became the greatest triumph the world has ever known.
1 Corinthians 15:57 (NLT)
“But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
That same victory now speaks over your life.
You are not fighting for victory, you are standing from a place of victory.
Encouragement
Believer, whatever you’re carrying today, lay it at the cross again.
The work has already been done.
What was meant to bind you has been canceled.
What was meant to overpower you has been disarmed.
And what was meant to defeat you has been swallowed up in victory.
Walk forward with confidence.
He has already gone before you, and He has already won.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for the finished work of the cross. Thank You for canceling every charge against us, for disarming the enemy, and for securing victory through Jesus Christ. Help us to walk boldly in what You have already accomplished. Teach us to live free, confident, and unashamed, fully anchored in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Stay encouraged and be blessed!
