Scripture focus: Ephesians 5:10 (NLT) – "Carefully determine what pleases the Lord."
As believers, we are called to be imitators of God—to walk in love, live in the light, and reflect the very nature of Christ in all we do. In Ephesians 5:1–2, Paul begins with a compelling call: "Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ." This is not just a suggestion; it’s a divine directive rooted in our identity as God’s beloved.
Living to Please God
Ephesians 5:10 urges us to carefully determine what pleases the Lord. That means living with discernment, not drifting through life on autopilot. It’s an intentional pursuit—measuring our choices, thoughts, and behaviors against the standard of Christ.
As children of light (Ephesians 5:8), our lives should contrast sharply with the darkness around us. Paul says, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them” (Ephesians 5:11, NIV). This doesn’t mean we walk in judgment, but that our lives shine so brightly with truth and love that darkness is naturally revealed.
When we seek to please the Lord, we:
Prioritize purity over compromise
Choose truth over deceit
Offer forgiveness over bitterness
Live with humility rather than pride
Living Responsibly on Social Media
In today’s digital world, one of the most powerful ways we “show up” is online. Social media is not separate from our spiritual life—it’s an extension of it. Every post, comment, share, or like communicates something about who we are and what we value. As representatives of Christ, we are responsible for what we amplify.
Does what I share reflect Christ’s love, truth, and grace?
Am I contributing to peace, or stirring up division?
Do my captions encourage others toward godliness or self-indulgence?
Is my tone gentle, or sarcastic and dismissive?
Paul’s words challenge us to be thoughtful, even online. “Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” — Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)
We are not only called to live in the light but to communicate from the light.
Supporting Scriptures
Romans 12:2 (NLT) – “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think...”
Colossians 1:10 (NIV) – “...live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way...”
Hebrews 13:16 (NLT) – “Don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.”
Philippians 4:8 (NIV) – “Whatever is true, whatever is noble...think about such things.”
Here's Something to Think About
Am I living with intentionality or simply reacting to life?
What specific habits or attitudes in my life are not pleasing to the Lord?
Do my words, actions, and relationships reflect the light of Christ?
How does my social media reflect my faith in Jesus?
Am I using my influence online to honor God or to gain attention?
A Word of Encouragement
Living a life that pleases the Lord is not about perfection—it’s about perfecting and direction. When your heart is set on honoring God, the Holy Spirit gently leads you in truth. Even when you fall short, His grace is sufficient to realign you with His will. Remember, you are deeply loved, fully known, and empowered to live as a reflection of Christ. Let your light shine—online and offline.
A Prayer for Today
Father, Thank You for calling me to walk in the light of Your truth. Help me to carefully discern what pleases You and to walk in a way that honors You. Continue transforming my heart, renewing my mind, and guiding my steps. Teach me to reflect Christ not only in my daily life but in my digital spaces as well. I declare that every word I speak, post, or share will be seasoned with grace. In Jesus' name, amen.
Stay encouraged, and keep walking in the light of His love.— Be blessed!
