Psalm 27:1 (NLT)
"The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?"
There is something powerful about a heart that says, "Lord, I'm coming."
In Psalm 27, David reminds us that our confidence is not found in our circumstances, but in the character of God. He is our light in darkness, our salvation in danger, our fortress in the battle. When fear tries to speak, faith answers with trust in God's unchanging nature.
One of the most tender moments in David’s prayer that touched me comes in verse 8:
"My heart has heard you say, 'Come and talk with me.' And my heart responds, 'Lord, I am coming.'"
This intimate exchange captures the very heart of the relationship with God!
God calls — gently, lovingly, consistently — and the believer responds with eagerness, without hesitation or fear. David's response is simple yet profound: he does not delay, he does not question — he moves toward God in full confidence, intentionally.
Today, God is still calling. He still invites you to come, to be near, to dwell in His presence without shame or fear. He calls you not because you have earned it, but because He loves you!
Your role is simply to respond: "Lord, I'm coming."
Even when the waiting feels long, and answers seem delayed, David encourages us:
"Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord." (Psalm 27:14, NLT)
In the waiting, in the calling, in the coming — God remains faithful!
Supporting Scriptures:
Hebrews 4:16 (NLT): "So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most."
James 4:8 (NLT): "Come close to God, and God will come close to you."
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT): "Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God."
Reflection Questions:
How is God inviting you to "come" closer to Him today?
Are there any fears, distractions, or doubts keeping you from responding wholeheartedly?
What would it look like for you to say, "Lord, I'm coming," in this season of your life?
Prayer Points to Begin Your Conversation with God:
Thank God for His constant invitation to be near Him.
Confess any fear or hesitation that keeps you from responding.
According to Psalm 27, declare a heart that is quick to say, "Lord, I'm coming," in every situation.
Embrace the courage to wait patiently and trust His timing.
Believer, God is near. His heart is open. His arms are strong.
He is calling you today.
Will you say, "Lord, I'm coming"?
Be blessed.
