Focus scripture:
Psalm 34:14 (NKJV)
“Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it.”
Devotional
Peace is not something we stumble upon by accident. Scripture invites us to seek it intentionally and then go a step further—to pursue it. That tells us peace requires movement, discernment, and sometimes difficult choices. It is not passive, nor is it dependent on circumstances aligning perfectly.
To pursue peace, we must first be willing to depart—to step away from what disturbs our spirit, disrupts our alignment, or pulls us away from God’s heart. Peace often begins with what we release before it shows up in what we receive.
Pursuing peace also means choosing to do good when it would be easier to react, withdraw, or hold on to offense. It calls us to respond with grace, humility, and obedience, trusting that God honors a heart that desires harmony with Him.
Scripture reminds us that peace is not out of reach.
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3).
And again, “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts” (Colossians 3:15).
Peace is both a gift from God and a responsibility we steward.
When we pursue peace, we are not avoiding life’s challenges—we are choosing how we walk through them. Peace becomes our posture, our guide, and our strength.
Reflection Question
What is one thing God may be asking you to release or realign so that peace can take its rightful place in your heart?
Final Encouragement
Beloved, peace is not weakness—it is wisdom. As you seek and pursue peace, trust that God is guiding your steps, guarding your heart, and honoring your obedience. Choose what brings rest to your spirit and clarity to your walk.
Prayer
Father,
We thank You for being the source of our peace. Teach us how to seek it with intention and pursue it with faith. Help us to let go of what disrupts our spirit and to choose obedience over reaction. Guard our hearts and minds, and lead us in the way that brings honor to You and rest to our souls. We trust You to order our steps and keep us in Your care.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Stay encouraged and be blessed!
