Scripture Focus: Galatians 5:7 (NKJV)“You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?”
You were running a good race. You were focused, pressing forward in faith, building a life rooted in the Word of God. Then something or someone disrupted your course. Apostle Paul’s question in Galatians 5:7 is just as relevant today as it was then: “Who hindered YOU from obeying the truth?”
In a world filled with competing voices—some spiritual, some cultural, and many masquerading as truth—false teachings can subtly creep in and reroute you from the path God designed. What once felt clear and ordered can suddenly seem chaotic, even confusing. But here’s the reminder: God hasn’t changed His mind about you, His church or His Word.
Dr. Apostle Suzanne Howard said it well: “God won't manage what you have been assigned to lead.”
That includes your decisions, your thinking, your habits, and yes—your life. God’s Spirit will guide, correct, and empower, but He will not override your will. You are responsible for aligning your life with His truth.
False teachings often sound like truth, but they are laced with deception. They promise freedom while producing bondage. They preach grace but dismiss obedience. But Jesus Himself said:
“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:31-32 (NKJV)
The standard for living has not changed. God’s Word remains the blueprint for holy living and sound direction. It’s your job to lead your life—intentionally, faithfully, and according to Scripture.
Even the Apostle Paul urged the church in Rome:
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” — Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
You must be vigilant. When you don’t take charge of what influences you, something else will! And over time, you’ll find yourself far from where God intended.
Here’s Something to Think About:
-Have you allowed outside voices to influence your obedience to God’s truth?
-Are there teachings, traditions, or trends you’ve accepted that contradict the Word of God?
You were running well—focused, obedient, aligned. Ask yourself: Who hindered me? And more importantly: Am I willing to take the lead....again?
Prayer:
Father, Thank You for the truth of Your Word that gives light to my path. Forgive me for the times I’ve allowed others to sway my convictions or pull me away from the truth You’ve planted in my heart. I renounce every false teaching and deceptive influence that has hindered my walk with You. Holy Spirit, help me to lead my life with wisdom, discipline, and boldness. Strengthen my resolve to walk in obedience and to live out the life You’ve blessed me with. I reclaim my course and realign with Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Supporting Scriptures to Reflect On:
2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NLT) – “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching…”
Proverbs 4:25-27 (NKJV) – “Let your eyes look straight ahead... Do not turn to the right or the left…”
Colossians 2:8 (NKJV) – “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit…”
Be blessed.
